Desperate to fit in with the cool crowd, Jennifer decides to host her thirteenth birthday bash and invites her fashionable classmates. However, when they start complaining about the "lame" activities, including a puppet show performed by her dad, Jennifer feels the pressure. With Mallory's help, she transforms into a "valley girl" and ends up abandoning her own celebration. Soon enough, though, she discovers that she's not enjoying herself at all and decides to stand up to her new friends, rejecting the persona she adopted.
