The Bill (1984)

Episode Overview

Responding to a distress call, Smithy finds himself delivering a baby right on the street. Concerned for the mother’s well-being, he digs into her past and uncovers a troubling history of prostitution and drug addiction. After she disappears from the hospital, leaving her newborn behind, Smithy informs her father, who then shares that he and his wife plan to adopt the baby and raise it as their own. In an effort to help, Smithy recruits the mother to assist in capturing her pimp, who is also involved in drug dealing, by setting up a sting operation. However, the plan goes awry when she runs off with the drugs, attempting to sell them to users in the area.
