P.C. Muswell and P.C. Lyttleton are on the hunt for a truck loaded with stolen wool coats. Meanwhile, Ch. Supt. Brownlow is hosting a farewell bash for his retiring clerk. D.I. Roy Galloway confronts D.S. Burnside when he crashes the party, and Burnside confesses his attraction to June Ackland. D.C. Mike Dashwood discovers that the scotch being served at the bar is stolen, prompting Galloway to ask Ackland to set aside the remaining bottles as evidence. Ignoring warnings from both the D.I. and Chief Supt., D.S. Ted Roach drives home heavily intoxicated and crashes into a fence. To avoid losing his job, Roach spends the night on a friend's boat to sober up, only to spot the coat thieves at the docks the next morning. They’re later arrested after getting stuck in a freezer.
