The Bill (1984)

Episode Overview

W.P.C. Ackland and P.C. Stamp arrive at a brothel to find Jo Whitney, the daughter of a well-known local councillor, drenched in paraffin and threatening to ignite herself and the building. Jo, a sex worker and struggling with drug addiction, hasn’t had a fix for three days, leaving her extremely agitated. While Ackland tries to calm her down, Stamp contacts the fire brigade. A tense struggle ensues over the lighter, resulting in a fire breaking out in the flat, but Stamp successfully gets both women to safety. Shortly after, C.A.D. asks June to shift her focus to a burglary case—after enjoying a cup of tea, of course.
