Maxine is eager to impress her parents at their party, so she persuades Ian to play the role of her boyfriend. Although he agrees reluctantly, their charade brings out unexpected feelings that catch everyone off guard. Meanwhile, Carl realizes his mistake in breaking up with Maxine and is determined to win her back. However, he soon discovers that love and resentment often go hand in hand when Micky reveals a painful truth. At the Jockey, Mimi tries to hide Karen's illness after her return from the psychiatric facility. As Karen readjusts to life in Chatsworth, Jamie struggles with the challenges of living with mental illness. Seeking an escape, he encounters Michelle, a Madame from a successful male escort agency, who intends to lure him into a dubious but profitable opportunity.
