Episode Overview

David frustrates Valerie by moving out of her room and into Carly's former house. In an effort to make amends, she arranges for a record company executive to catch Jasper's Law performing at the club. The band secures a new record deal, largely thanks to David's song. Valerie feels hurt when she discovers that the song, which she thought was about her, was actually written for Donna. Meanwhile, Donna's grandmother requires surgery for an aneurysm. Donna introduces Noah to Mrs. Martin, but she still believes David is meant for Donna. After a surgery complication leads to Mrs. Martin's death, Val advises David against attending the funeral, while Noah encourages him to reconnect with Donna due to their past. They share a kiss but choose to stay friends. Meanwhile, Kelly encounters an ex-convict who was imprisoned at seventeen for killing his mother's abusive boyfriend. She persuades Brandon to write a story about his life.
