Grace Under Fire (1993)
S05E08 The Victory Tree
Episode Overview
During a field trip to a bridge construction site, Libby learns that the historic Victory Tree is slated for removal, leaving her distraught. To advocate for the tree, Grace encourages Libby to launch a letter-writing campaign. Libby even organizes a protest, which angers D.C. as it halts construction. He blames Grace for the situation since she initiated the trip. Libby is surprised by Grace's lack of concern for the tree, but Grace argues the bridge is vital for the town and their family. A town meeting is held to discuss the tree’s future, where D.C. emphasizes the bridge’s potential thirty-million-dollar revenue. Despite the odds, Grace insists Libby be heard. Additionally, Russell announces the expansion of his store, featuring a new soda fountain, during the meeting.
