Episode Overview

In the summer of 1990 in Poland, ten-year-old Kai is taken to stay with family friends by his mother, Minna, seeking refuge. His father, Arthur, believes Kai has a dark nature and poses a threat to him. Meanwhile, Kai's brave sister, Maggie, defends him against their peers. On their way to school, a confrontation erupts, resulting in serious injury to the bully, Conradi, and leaving Maggie knocked out. Kai promises his father he will keep his true self a secret from Maggie. A mysterious man, aware of Kai's uniqueness, approaches him with an offer to join his "real" family.
