Mission: Impossible (1966)
S05E17 The Field
Episode Overview
A hostile nation has positioned a satellite armed with a thermonuclear bomb, prompting the IMF to take action. The control center, located on an island in the Adriatic Sea, is fortified by a formidable minefield created by a traitorous American named Norris. To initiate their plan, Barney discreetly detonates some mines, leading the facility's security to summon Norris, who has been absent. Paris impersonates him and, using blueprints Jim obtained earlier, disables a section of the minefield, allowing Barney to access the control room to recalibrate the system to deorbit the satellite. Meanwhile, the genuine Norris murders his girlfriend, a government informant, resulting in Paris being arrested for the crime. This predicament also leaves Barney stranded within the minefield. Jim and Doug manage to extract a confession from Norris about the murder and the weapon's location before Inspector Koder, who recognizes the real Norris, finds Paris. Dana cleverly passes critical information to Paris, aiding their efforts to clear his name.
