Episode Overview

Tommy has developed a crush on Nicole but worries that she’s too sophisticated for him. He shares his concerns with Rachel, mentioning his attempts to write poetry for her. When he reads one of Rachel’s poems in class and earns an “A,” Nicole is impressed, prompting Tommy to ask her out— to the opera! Meanwhile, Ryan and R.J. plot to help Tommy seem more cultured, hoping to win over Nicole's father, who manages the L.A. Amphitheatre, so they can score Boys II Men tickets for Lindsay and Maria. As the pressure mounts, Tommy feels like a fraud before meeting Mr. Miller. Nicole tells Rachel and Lindsay about “Thomas’s” cultured side, leading to their laughter. When Nicole learns from them that Tommy didn’t actually write the poem, she feels betrayed and decides to cut ties with him. In an effort to make things right, Tommy volunteers to dance in a canceled school ballet production, hoping to impress Nicole’s father and show his support
