Episode Overview

Seven-year-old Mickey is heartbroken following his mother's death, living with his Aunt Val and older brother Ryan. When Ryan discovers that Guy Garfield, the star of Mickey's favorite show "The Avenging Angel," will be at an Angel Convention in Portland, he hopes to convince Guy to help lift Mickey's spirits. Guy makes a flashy entrance using his signature "golden ladder," delighting fans, but Monica and Tess see through his charming facade, recognizing him as a heavy-drinking womanizer. Ryan exaggerates Mickey's condition, claiming he’s "dying," and Guy plays along for publicity. However, once offstage, he tells Monica he won't fulfill his promise. Determined, Monica drives Guy to Mickey’s rural town, leaving him unaware of the surprise awaiting him.
