Episode Overview

Following the death of one of Dr. Mike's patients from blood poisoning, she blames Jake, the barber, for using a contaminated razor. This accusation leads Jake into a downward spiral of drinking. Despite Dr. Mike's efforts to help him, she ultimately understands that he must choose to overcome his addiction on his own. She encourages him by reminding him of the supportive friends he has in the community, herself included. Meanwhile, on Dr. Mike's 35th birthday, her children plot to alleviate her loneliness by finding her a suitable partner in time for her surprise celebration.
