Episode Overview

Catherine, a striking blonde woman raised by a tribe of renegade Indians, is brought to Colorado Springs by soldiers after her entire community, including her husband, is destroyed, leaving her as the last survivor. At first, the townspeople feel sorry for her, but their sympathy quickly turns to disdain when she rejects their help, struggles with the language barrier, and suffers from an epileptic seizure. Her Indian name, "Shivering Deer," reflects her condition. Mike offers her shelter, but she only feels safe with Sully and, to a lesser extent, Brian. However, Brian's feelings shift when he accidentally sees Catherine kissing Sully. When he brings this up with Sully, he struggles to grasp the difference between "being kissed" and "kissing someone," leading him to confide in Mike about his confusion. Meanwhile, Jake discusses the threat of marauding Indians with Loren and Dorothy, adding to the tension in town.
