Sydney is unhappy about Jane's new bond with her mother. Sherry deceives everyone about Jane's real father but eventually admits he was a producer with whom she had an affair to secure a role. Meanwhile, Amanda and Craig head to Palm Springs for a business trip. When Peter unexpectedly shows up to surprise Amanda, he finds her dining with Craig, adorned in a pearl necklace. Ignoring her attempts to explain, he loses his temper and wrecks the restaurant before Amanda kicks him out of her apartment. Taylor decides to auction off one of Samantha's paintings for charity. Sam, who hasn’t seen any profits from previous sales, tries to reclaim it, but Sydney bids against her to make Kyle appear generous. In a twist of fate, Sydney accidentally wins the painting and hopes the other bidder, an employee of tech genius Carter Gallavan, will take it off her hands. Meanwhile, Billy retrieves the artwork that Sam had given to Craig.
