Episode Overview
As conditions in the camp deteriorate further due to drought and growing workloads, the guards burn Marion's diary. The prisoners learn that Red Cross parcels were sent but withheld from them—Verna claims it was due to Rose's escape. However, Marion pieces together the truth: Verna has been selling the contents. Dorothy comes to terms with Shinya, forgiving him for shooting Rose as he prepares to head to the front. The next day, an Allied plane mistakenly bombs the camp while targeting Yamauchi’s headquarters, resulting in the deaths of Miss Hasan and Shinya, and injuring Daisy and Sato. Seizing the chaos, Blanche leads the women in raiding the storerooms for the Red Cross parcels, but Yamauchi arrives and commands them to stop.
