The Untouchables (1959)
S03E16 The Death Tree
Episode Overview
In early November 1931, the vibrant neighborhood along West Madison Street is home to a mix of Romanian, Hungarian, and Czech gypsies. This lively area is awash with Capone's low-quality liquor, distributed by Janos Colescu. Among its many colorful figures is a chestnut vendor, calling out cheerfully, "Get your red-hot che-e-estnuts, the wind is cold!" However, the chaos escalates when a drunken knife fight results in a gypsy's death. In response, the eight-member gypsy Senate, led by Victor Bartok and his brother Fedor, gathers to discuss the situation. When Eliot Ness arrives to offer assistance in tackling the bootlegging, they firmly refuse, insisting they will resolve it themselves.
