On the evening of December 24, 1930, Hap Levinson, a petty criminal, dons a Santa Claus costume at the Sackman Orphan Home, delighting the children with toys and ice cream. After spreading cheer, he steps outside to wave goodbye, only to be brutally gunned down by gangsters in a passing car—a shocking sight for the young ones. Although the murder of Santa isn’t a federal offense, Eliot Ness takes it upon himself to investigate. He had known Hap for a decade, maintaining a peculiar friendship where they stood on opposite sides of the law when it came to official matters.
