Episode Overview

In the spring of 1931, Chicago is buzzing with tension. That evening, Ness and his team are in pursuit of a young whiskey runner working for Solly Girsch. The 19-year-old driver speeds away, reaching 80 mph, but loses control and crashes, resulting in a fiery explosion. Solly Girsch reigns supreme in the bootlegging scene, operating 500 small stores that distribute his illicit whiskey. Together, these shops create the largest single source of whiskey in the city, solidifying Girsch's grip on the black market.
