Episode Overview
Ken Marston, a Black soldier on training exercises, finds himself targeted by his racist Sergeant, Nicholls, who is intent on retaliating after Ken reports him. During a confrontation atop a cliff, Nicholls loses his balance and falls, leaving Ken terrified and on the run, convinced he has killed him. Meanwhile, Nick investigates a burglary at a farm, suspecting Claude is the culprit, and he too is fleeing after believing he has taken a life. He seeks out a childhood friend, only to learn of his death. Kate is caring for the widow, whose disturbed son may be placed in care. The widow wrongfully blames Kate, thinking she alerted authorities, when it was actually Ferrenby. With Alex and Kate's intervention, the situation is resolved, allowing the boy to remain with his mother.
