Episode Overview
Rex Hawkins, the local TV repairman, finds himself in hot water with Lol Baxter over an unpaid debt. As the lead tenor in the choir, Rex catches the eye of Miriam, the choir leader, who he persuades to dismiss Alf. However, when she spots Rex with another woman, she quickly rehires Alf. After a brutal beating outside the pub, Rex's mother suspects Alf is behind it, but Nick is skeptical and sets out to uncover the truth. Eventually, Rex confides in the police, revealing that Baxter is responsible. He had bought stolen TV sets from Baxter at a discount, but they turned out to be faulty, leaving him unable to repay his debt. Meanwhile, Greengrass struggles with a Royal Doulton piece Gina ordered for Christmas, and Gina invites Mike to join them for dinner. Nick and Katie enjoy watching Jo perform in the choir.
