Bill joins Barnaby on a visit to Sam Race's tent city of "entertainers," where a girl from the train who has caught Barnaby's eye is working—not as a singer, as she initially believed, but as a saloon girl. Bill aims to protect Barnaby from the gambling schemes and cons that Race orchestrates, but instead, they stumble into a situation filled with trouble and embarrassment for both of them.
