Court day arrives in Mt. Thomas, and the Heelers gather to witness Luke Darcy's trial for allegedly attempting to murder his father, an event that triggered a police shooting where PJ had to protect himself from Luke's furious mother, Raeleen. PJ is particularly frustrated when Luke exploits the legal system and cuts in Legal Aid to postpone his trial, leaving him free and harboring a deep resentment towards Detective Hasham. Annoyed by the Heelers' attempts to shield him from Luke’s wrath, PJ is further troubled when local solicitor Sally Downie reports a break-in at her office. He suspects Luke may be involved, especially since Sally has taken over the management of the Karla Darcy Fund, established for Luke's young sister after the incident. As PJ investigates with minimal evidence, including a partial fingerprint, he sets out to confront Luke, only to discover that Grandma Lucy Kenny has been brutally attacked, raising more suspicions about Luke's involvement.
