Most Haunted (2002)
S03E05 Aberglasney House
Episode Overview
In the Middle Ages, the region surrounding Aberglasney was marked by fierce battles, notably a brutal campaign in 1257. The fields nearby still bear witness to this tumultuous past, with names like Cae Tranc (field of vengeance) and Cae'r Ochain (groaning field). Until the fifteenth century, our understanding of Aberglasney's owners relies on tradition. From then on, the estate changed hands approximately every century, creating a strange cycle of prosperity and hardship. Though records are lacking, it is widely believed that Bishop Rudd acquired Aberglasney around 1600. The property remained with his family until 1710 when Sir Rice, the Bishop's grandson, was compelled to sell due to mounting debts. His grandson, Robert Archer Dyer, took over in 1752, but the estate continued to deplete their resources, leading to its sale in 1798. By 1803, the situation had evolved further.
