Stacy Harris
Stacy Harris (July 26, 1918 – March 13, 1973) was a prolific Canadian actor known for his extensive work in film and television, often credited as Stacey Harris. His early life was marked by a stint as an Army pilot, but an injury sustained in a plane crash shortly after enlisting in 1937 prevented him from serving again during World War II. Instead, he contributed as an ambulance driver with the American Volunteer Group and served as a dispatch rider in the French Foreign Legion. Prior to embarking on his acting career, Harris explored various professions including newspaper reporter, boxer, sailor, and artist.
Throughout his career, Harris took on a wide array of roles, frequently portraying villains in notable series produced by Jack Webb's Mark VII Limited, including classics like Dragnet, Adam-12, and Emergency!. He also made appearances in the anthology series Crossroads and featured in a 1956 episode of Conflict titled "Man from 1997," alongside James Garner.
His notable television credits include roles in Buckskin, Riverboat, and three episodes of Perry Mason, where he played diverse characters ranging from a murder victim to a client. Harris's talent extended to westerns, with performances in shows such as The Texan and The Rebel, further solidifying his reputation as a versatile character actor. He passed away on March 13, 1973, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 54 due to an apparent heart attack.
