Vincent Perez
Vincent Pérez, born Vicente Pérez in Lausanne to a Spanish father and a German mother, spent much of his early years in Penthaz and Cheseaux in the Canton of Vaud. His artistic journey began with photography studies at the Center Doret in Vevey, followed by dramatic arts training in Geneva and at the Conservatoire and Amandiers School in Nanterre.
Pérez made his film debut in 1985 with "Guardian of the Night," but it was his role in the acclaimed 1990 film "Cyrano de Bergerac" that propelled him to international fame, earning him a nomination for Best Male Hope at the César Awards. His talent shone further in the 1992 Oscar-winning film "Indochina," and the same year, he received the Prix Jean-Gabin. Known for portraying passionate romantic figures, he gained recognition in films like "La Reine Margot" and "Fanfan," collaborating with esteemed French actors. His performances in "The Hunchback" and "Those Who Love Me Will Take the Train" garnered César nominations for Best Supporting Actor.
In addition to acting, Pérez ventured into directing, debuting with the short film "L'échange" in 1992, which was nominated for a Cannes Jury Prize. He later directed the feature film "Peau d'Ange" in 2002 and the 2007 film "Si j'étais toi." A supporter of various causes, he publicly advocated for indigenous rights in 2012. Pérez is married to Karine Silla, with whom he has three children, and has previously been linked to actresses Jacqueline Bisset and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.
