María de Lourdes Villiers, better known as Mia Farrow, was born on February 9, 1945, and is a prominent American actress, activist, and former model. With a filmography spanning over 50 movies, Farrow has earned numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe Award and three nominations for BAFTA Awards. She is also recognized for her significant contributions as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, engaging in humanitarian work in regions such as Darfur, Chad, and the Central African Republic. In 2008, Time magazine recognized her as one of the world's most influential figures.

Farrow grew up in Beverly Hills, California, as the eldest child of Australian director John Farrow and Irish actress Maureen O'Sullivan, in a devout Catholic environment. She initially worked as a fashion model in her teens and gained fame for her role as Allison MacKenzie in the soap opera Peyton Place (1964–1966). Her film debut in Guns at Batasi (1964) brought her a Golden Globe for New Star of the Year, and she drew further attention for her marriage to Frank Sinatra at the age of 21. Her acclaimed performance as Rosemary Woodhouse in Rosemary's Baby (1968) garnered her nominations for both a BAFTA and a Golden Globe Award.

In 1971, Farrow made history as the first American actress to join the Royal Shakespeare Company, portraying Joan of Arc. She later participated in various stage and film projects throughout the 1970s. Beginning her collaboration with filmmaker Woody Allen in 1979, she acted in 13 of his films, receiving multiple accolades for her work. Following her split from Allen in 1992, she publicly accused him of sexually assaulting their adopted daughter Dylan, claims he has denied. Since the 2000s, Farrow has continued to act sporadically, while also focusing on her family and humanitarian causes, particularly in Africa.
