Glenn Strange
Glenn Strange, whose real name was George Glenn Strange, was born on August 16, 1899, in Weed, New Mexico. Standing at an impressive 6 feet 5 inches, he led a diverse life as a rancher, deputy sheriff, and rodeo performer. Growing up in Cross Cut, Texas, he embraced the cowboy lifestyle, embodying the spirit of the American West. With a rich heritage that included Irish and Cherokee Indian ancestry, Glenn developed a passion for music early on, teaching himself to play the fiddle and guitar by ear.
As a teenager, he began sharing his musical talents at local events, showcasing his skills and love for performing. In the late 1920s, Glenn teamed up with his cousin, Taylor McPeters—who would later gain fame as the western character actor Cactus Mack. Together, they became part of a radio singing group called the "Arizona Wranglers," which toured across the United States. This collaboration not only highlighted Glenn's musical talents but also paved the way for his future in the entertainment industry. With a unique blend of his cowboy roots and artistic flair, Glenn Strange left a lasting impact on both the music and film realms.
