Anthony Hopkins

Sir Philip Anthony Hopkins CBE, born on December 31, 1937, in Wales, is a distinguished actor, director, and producer with an illustrious career spanning several decades. Renowned for his compelling performances, he has garnered multiple prestigious awards, including two Academy Awards, four BAFTAs, and two Primetime Emmys. His contributions to the arts were recognized when he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1993, and in 2003, he earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Hopkins began his formal training at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and further honed his craft at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. He was invited to join the Royal National Theatre by Laurence Olivier in 1965, where he starred in several productions, notably his favorite, King Lear. He made his film debut in 1968 as Richard the Lionheart in The Lion in Winter, quickly establishing himself as a formidable talent.

His portrayal of Hannibal Lecter in the 1991 thriller The Silence of the Lambs earned him an Academy Award for Best Actor, a role he revisited in later films. Other significant works include The Elephant Man (1980), Legends of the Fall (1994), and The Father (2020), where he made history as the oldest actor to win an Oscar for Best Actor.
