Kenneth Cranham
Kenneth Cranham, a celebrated Scottish actor, is widely recognized as one of Britain's most esteemed character performers. He honed his craft at the National Youth Theatre and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). Cranham gained significant attention for his portrayal of Noah Claypole in the 1968 musical film Oliver!, directed by Carol Reed. In the late 1970s, he captured audiences' hearts as Sapper Salt in the Euston Films series Danger UXB, later starring in the beloved postwar comedy-drama Shine on Harvey Moon. His standout film role during this period was as Dr. Philip Channard in Hellraiser II.
In more recent years, Cranham has appeared in notable projects such as the HBO series Rome and films including Hot Fuzz, Layer Cake, Valkyrie, Made in Dagenham, Maleficent, and Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool. His impressive stage career includes acclaimed West End performances in Entertaining Mr Sloane, Loot, An Inspector Calls, The Ruffian on the Stair, The Birthday Party, and Gaslight, the latter at the Old Vic, where he earned a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for his role as Inspector Goole. In 2016, he won the Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Play for his moving portrayal of Andre in Florian Zeller's The Father, which debuted at the Theatre Royal Bath and later captivated West End audiences, receiving glowing five-star reviews.
Cranham was previously married to actress Diana Quick and has two daughters: Nancy, with actress Charlotte Cornwell, and Kathleen, with his second wife, Fiona Victory, whom he met while filming Shine on Harvey Moon.
