Matthew Broderick, born on March 21, 1962, is a renowned American actor known for his work on stage and in film. He began his acting journey in the early 1980s with off-Broadway performances, quickly gaining recognition for his role in Neil Simon's "Brighton Beach Memoirs," which earned him a Tony Award. Broderick made his film debut in 1983 with "Max Dugan Returns," also written by Simon. However, it was his performance as a teenage hacker in the cult classic "WarGames" that catapulted him to fame the same year.

Broderick solidified his status as a cultural icon with the 1985 hit "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." His impressive filmography includes acclaimed titles such as "Glory" (1989), "The Lion King" (1994), "The Cable Guy" (1996), "Godzilla" (1998), and "Election" (1999).

In addition to his film career, Broderick has maintained a strong presence on Broadway, winning a second Tony Award in 1995 for "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" and receiving another nomination in 2001 for "The Producers."

In a tragic incident during a trip to Ireland in 1985, Broderick was involved in a car accident that resulted in the deaths of two locals. He was found at fault and charged with causing death by dangerous driving, ultimately receiving a lesser sentence and a fine. Since 1997, he has been married to actress Sarah Jessica Parker, with whom he shares three children.
