Jean Anderson
Jean Anderson (12 December 1907 – 1 April 2001) was a distinguished English actress hailing from Eastbourne, Sussex. Renowned for her compelling performances, she gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of the formidable matriarch Mary Hammond in the BBC drama series The Brothers during the 1970s. Additionally, she captivated audiences as the spirited aristocrat Lady Jocelyn "Joss" Holbrook in the acclaimed World War II series Tenko in the 1980s.
Anderson's impressive career also includes two notable portrayals of the Mother in The Railway Children, featured in separate BBC adaptations released in 1951 and 1957.
