Dave Willock
Dave Willock (August 13, 1909 – November 12, 1990) was a distinguished American character actor whose career spanned five decades, during which he made notable contributions to both film and television. He made his acting debut in 1939 with a minor role in *Good Girls Go to Paris*. Willock's journey began in vaudeville in 1931, where he performed alongside childhood friend Jack Carson in a comedic song and dance act. He also worked as a newspaper reporter and editor in Milwaukee during the mid-1930s.
In the early 1940s, Willock reunited with Carson, writing for and portraying Carson's nephew Tugwell on *The Jack Carson Show*, which ran from 1943 to 1949. He later collaborated with Cliff Arquette on their own radio and television show, *Dave and Charley*, in the early 1950s. Willock is remembered for his role as Harvey Clayton, the father of Margie Clayton, in the 1961-1962 series *Margie*. His versatility was evident in his performances on shows like *Dragnet* and *Green Acres*, where he played multiple characters.
In addition to live-action roles, Willock lent his voice to animated projects, including the narrator on *Wacky Races* and Augustus "Gus" Holiday on *The Roman Holidays*. His work also included a commercial for "The Great American Soups," directed by Stan Freberg. Willock passed away at the age of 81 due to complications from a stroke and is interred at Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery. His contributions to the entertainment industry earned him a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, located at 6358 Hollywood Boulevard.
