Plot

Eadie Chapman departs Missouri with dreams of marrying into wealth in New York City. She quickly finds work as a chorus girl, dazzling at the opulent estate of millionaire Frank Cousins. Just as Cousins proposes to her, financial ruin drives him to take his own life. When the police investigate Eadie for possessing Cousins’ jewelry, millionaire T. R. Paige steps in to defend her. However, complications arise as Eadie falls for Paige's son, Tom, prompting Paige to label her a gold digger, straining her aspirations and relationships in the glittering but treacherous social scene.
