Plot
After losing his parents, young Pud finds himself living with his elderly grandparents. He shares a close bond with his grandfather, who worries about Pud's well-being and is suspicious of a cunning relative aiming to take custody of the boy. One day, Mr. Brink, a representative of Death, appears to escort Gramps to "the land where the woodbine twineth." With cleverness, Gramps manages to trap Mr. Brink in the branches of a towering apple tree, buying himself precious time to sort out Pud's future.
