The Goat Horn (1972)

Plot

Set in 17th-century Bulgaria, under the oppressive Ottoman Empire, Karaivan’s life shatters when four men invade his home, brutally assaulting his wife in front of their daughter, Maria. Driven by grief and a desire for vengeance, he raises Maria as his son, training her in the art of combat and survival. As she matures, however, Maria finds herself yearning for a life beyond the cycle of violence and revenge, grappling with her father's expectations and her own dreams of freedom.
