Plot
Alfred Carlton Gilbert, the creator of the Erector Set, faces an unexpected challenge when he receives an urgent call to the White House. With World War I underway, officials pressure him to transform his toy factory into a weapons production facility, threatening his reputation if he declines. Reluctantly, A.C. complies. As the holidays approach, he’s further tasked with promoting a campaign to replace traditional gift-giving with war bond purchases. Struggling with the implications for his own son, who eagerly anticipates Christmas, A.C. must navigate the dilemma between duty and the joy of childhood.
