Plot

A group of orphans embarks on a train journey to Manitoba after their home is destroyed by fire. During a stop in Scourie, Ontario, young Patsy captures the attention of Victoria McChesney, who longs for a child with her husband Patrick. Eager to adopt, Victoria insists on raising Patsy as a Catholic, despite their Protestant background. While Patsy adapts well to her new life, she faces challenges, particularly from a fellow orphan who bullies her and falsely claims she caused the tragic fire.
