Episode Overview

Nicholas Groat, a master chess player, assembles a crew to steal gold meant for the underground in an Eastern bloc nation, which has been seized by local authorities. The IMF steps in to retrieve the gold and thwart Groat's plans. To secure his prize, Groat pressures the authorities to transfer the gold from a bank to a hotel vault where he and Rollin are competing in a chess tournament. The hotel enhances security with a time lock, but Groat becomes suspicious of Rollin after spotting him cheating with a hearing aid. After forcing Rollin to prove his method, the computer "accidentally" speeds up the time mechanisms, and Groat decides to use this to access the vault. Rollin agrees but insists Groat must involve his team. Willy creates a fake typhoid outbreak, and Dr. Phelps gives the guards shots that are actually sedatives. With Groat's assistance, they break into the vault, seize the gold at gunpoint, and leave
