Charles Dingle, born on December 28, 1887, in Wabash, Indiana, and passing away on January 19, 1956, in Worcester, Massachusetts, was a distinguished American actor known for his work on both stage and screen.

Dingle embarked on his theatrical journey with his Broadway debut in the short-lived play *Killers* in 1928. His career flourished as he took on more prominent roles, including Duke Theseus in the 1932 revival of *A Midsummer Night's Dream* and Sheriff Cole in *Let Freedom Ring* in 1935. He also showcased his musical talent in Irving Berlin's *Miss Liberty* in 1950.

With a prolific career spanning over 50 feature films, Dingle gained recognition for his portrayals of shrewd businessmen and antagonistic characters. He is particularly remembered for his role as Ben Hubbard, the cunning patriarch of the Hubbard family in *The Little Foxes*, both on stage and in its film adaptation, as well as for his portrayal of Senator Brockway in *Call Me Madam*. Dingle was married to actress Dorothy White (1911-2008) and passed away from a heart attack at the age of 68. After his death, his ashes were scattered in Germany, and he was survived by his wife for 52 years.
