Plot
Set in late 19th-century England, Jude yearns for a life in academia but is hindered by his working-class roots. Stuck in a loveless marriage to Arabella, the daughter of a farmer, he finds a glimmer of hope when she departs. Seizing the chance for reinvention, Jude relocates to the city and embarks on a passionate affair with his married cousin, Sue. Their relationship, however, becomes fraught with complications, leading Jude down a path filled with ambition and heartbreak as he navigates societal constraints and personal desires.
