Overview
Star Trek: Hidden Frontier emerged as a fan-driven project, utilizing innovative digital video techniques and virtual sets created through green-screen technology. Set in the timeline of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the series follows the USS Excelsior and its base, Deep Space 12, nestled in the Briar Patch, a location from Star Trek: Insurrection. Over seven seasons, a total of 50 episodes were produced, emphasizing character dynamics, including diverse LGBTQ+ relationships. Created by Rob Caves with a dedicated volunteer cast in Southern California, the series concluded in May 2007, paving the way for spin-offs like Star Trek: Odyssey and Star Trek: The Helena Chronicles.
