Overview
Dance Moms premiered on Lifetime on July 13, 2011, showcasing the intense world of competitive dance through the lens of the Abby Lee Dance Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The reality series highlights the journeys of young dancers and the often dramatic dynamics with their mothers. Following its success, a spinoff called Dance Moms: Miami launched on April 3, 2012, focusing on Stars Dance Studio but was short-lived, concluding after just eight episodes. In October 2012, Lifetime renewed Dance Moms for a third season, which kicked off with 26 episodes on January 1, 2013.
