In 1974, he married Loralee Czuchna, but this union ended in divorce in 1983. Knotts found companionship again with Frances Yarborough, marrying her in 2002, a relationship that lasted until his passing in 2006. He had two children, including his daughter, actress Karen Knotts, born on April 2, 1954, and a son, Thomas Knotts.
Don Knotts passed away at the age of 81 due to complications from pneumonia associated with lung cancer, on February 24, 2006, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. His contributions to television and film continue to resonate, leaving behind a legacy of humor and heart.
