Clem Bevans (October 16, 1879 – August 11, 1963) was a distinguished American character actor, renowned for his portrayals of quirky and irritable elderly men. Bevans' extensive career began in vaudeville in 1900 alongside Grace Emmett. He then ventured into burlesque, Broadway, and light opera, showcasing his versatile talents before making a significant leap to film at the age of 55 with his debut in *Way Down East* (1935). His endearing performances quickly established him in the industry, often typecast as lovable old curmudgeons.
Throughout his career, Bevans delivered memorable performances, including his role as Gregory Peck's neighbor in *The Yearling* and the iconic gatekeeper in the classic film *Harvey* (1950).
