The Long and the Short and the Tall (1961)

Plot

British soldiers venture deep into the jungle to capture sounds for a clever ruse aimed at misleading the enemy. However, as they attempt to navigate back to their base camp, they find themselves increasingly isolated, with only a Japanese broadcast coming through clearly. Their proximity to a Japanese camp heightens the tension among the men, particularly between the cynical Private Bamforth and the equally abrasive Corporal Johnstone. When they capture a Japanese soldier, the group's dynamics shift dramatically, revealing the true nature of each soldier under pressure.
