Overview
Lawman, an American western aired on ABC from 1958 to 1962, stars John Russell as Marshal Dan Troop and Peter Brown as Deputy Marshal Johnny McKay. Set in Laramie, Wyoming, during the late 19th century, the show emerged during a surge of westerns from Warner Bros., which included hits like Cheyenne and Maverick. Determined to elevate its status, Russell, Brown, and producer Jules Schermer committed to distinguishing Lawman from typical westerns. In its second season, the cast expanded with Peggie Castle as Lily Merrill, the saloon owner and Dan's romantic interest, adding depth to the storyline.
